8 weeks to go!

Well just under actually, it is now 7 weeks and 6 days exactly until the wedding and our excitement is building. I know the next few weeks will fly by and before we know it, we'll be celebrating with friends and family in HCMC!

During the Christmas break we had a photo shoot for the wedding and you can take a sneak peak of these on Facebook. It's typical to do this several months beforehand in Vietnam and I now understand why. They took around 500 photo's, Nia looked stunning in 499 of them whereas we only managed to find 10% in which I didn't:

a) have my eyes closed
b) frown - probably due to being woken up so early for "lighting reasons", or
c) pull a face like I'd just eaten shoe polish

Those 50ish images will have the magic of Photoshop bestowed upon them, leaving the photographer with the task of capturing guests, cakes and cheers on the actual wedding day - a far safer bet than getting 50 good shots of me!

If this is your first time viewing the blog - welcome! There's a few pages dedicated to the wedding, with info about the itinerary, venue etc... and a few pages with local info and info about travelling to Vietnam. I'll post updates each week leading up to the wedding and in this my first post of the year, I thought I'd highlight some of the key milestones coming up.

You can get a visa on arrival, but you'll first need to fill out an online application and receive your Visa Approval Letter. Typically you should do this a couple of weeks before travel, but there are fast-track services if (like me) you forget and need to arrange last minute - see http://chrisandtuyen.blogspot.com.au/p/local-knowledge.html

You can also get a visa from the embassy a week or two ahead of travel, obviously this requires physically going to the embassy though Monday-Friday between 9-5pm, but does means you can avoid the queue at the airport. Whichever option you choose, make sure you've got your visa sorted at least one week before departing.

The stag/hen parties will be held on Thursday 28th March and we'll be having a (thankyou) dinner for our International Guests on Friday 29th March - details to follow in a subsequent post.

The wedding will be held on Saturday March 30th at Riverside Palace, District 4, HCMC. We'll organize buses on the day to pick everyone up from the centre of town and take them to Riverside Palace. The buses will also drop everyone back to the centre of town and onto the "after party" - details to be confirmed.

We'll organize a few events before and after the wedding - details to follow - but we highly encourage everyone to take full advantage of their journey and visit other parts of Vietnam or bordering countries for a few days.

Hope this message finds you well and we can't wait to see you all in a few weeks time!

Chris, Nia & Tenzin
